IMPORTANT NEWS! APRIL 2005 -
It is now official - After 8 years of demonic orgies, destruction and damnation, The demons of Descension have been called home to attend a serious issue on the 7th level of Hell - This is not the FINAL END of the band, however, Descension has been forced to go on HIATUS - in other words - The Band is TAKING A BREAK - a much needed one - to regroup - to strengthen it's live attack and to compose new hymns of darkness - How long this break will last is anyone's guess - the issues in Hell must be addressed and fixed before the band can return to Earth and continue it's mission. It could be a month, six months - a year - anyone can guess - but one thing is for sure - keep watching this website - it shall remain active - and it will be updated as soon as news is available. All that can be confirmed is that this break has been a long time coming. Astoroth Occultus has left us this release - the last and only words on this issue:
"DESCENSION blasted onto the Kansas City area music scene at a very strange time - most area bands were still a bit into Grunge and the whole Pearl Jam scene - and NOBODY was doing Theatrical Metal anymore - so we brought forth the blood, the fire, the make-up and the stage show - we were instantly laughed at - we were hated - ridiculed - and we were mocked. Then something cool happened - we showed that we were actually pretty nice guys - er - demons - Demons with hearts of Gold even - and people started liking us and our music - and then we saw other bands we had played with doing some of our theatrics - bands that it didn't even fit really - doing blood stuff - spitting blood and throwing blood - then bands starting doing fire stuff - and some even stole our naked nun symbols and images and used them as their own.... we had done a song, video and series of images for a song called "Inside Twisted Walls" and it used half naked Nuns - and about 9 months later a few other area bands were doing the same. Scary. We have made lots of friends and we will miss you guys while we are away - but hopefully you will keep us in your hearts and minds and be just as supportive when we return.... to those we have yet to meet - we do hope to one day share the stage with you all... to those that treated us like shit, talked crap on us and basically always laughed at us - go straight to Hell so we can torture your lame, close-minded asses! We have had a great time - going from guys being laughed at by crowds screaming "ICP!" to being nominated four years in a row as Kansas City's Best Metal Band and as Best LIve Band for two years by the Pitch Kansas City Music Awards. We got to play with many of our favorite bands all over - including the amazing Milwaukee Metalfest! We have been played on radio stations all over the globe and been in dozens of magazines - it has been amazing - more than we could ever hope for.... DESCENSION is a band with this attitude: NO EGOS, NO MACHO BULLSHIT, NO POSERS, NO ATTITUDES, NO BACKSTABBING and NO ROCK STAR TRIPS - and to this day we support these ideas - We were always - and always will be - the band that will play with anyone, at anytime, anyplace and for any amount - it has always been about our love of the music and who we are - and this is where some of the problems have started - when members of this band could not follow these rules - they were killed promptly and sent back to Hell - and right now there is a very chaotic state of turmoil in Descension and a few members had broken these rules and some just did not dedicate themselves 100% - therefore - I refuse to allow DESCENSION to continue in it's current form - If this whole band cannot give you 100% or their hearts and souls at all times - I refuse to allow it to go on - Nobody in this town deserves to be a rock star - NOBODY - nobody deserves an attitude - and when people, fans, newbies - whoever - comes and sees your band - you should be GRATEFUL - THANKFUL and VERY humble - you should be glad that someone came to hear you play - to see your band - and you should do EVERYTHING in your power to entertain them - to make them have a better day - while you are on that stage - just like the bands I loved growing up did for me - I would have a shit day and they would make it better - brighten it - just with a song or two - and you have that same power and ability - and those people standing in front of you - no matter if it's 2 or 2000 - they still deserve your respect and your thanks - and you don't just act like you DESERVE it - you don't act like they came cuz you are THE GODS of rock - in this town - we are the zits on the ass of humanity. We are nothing. Even when we get popular and 300 kids come out and enjoy our shows - we are still nothing in the national and global scene - We are just guys doing what we love - and we should be damned glad that ANYONE cares enough to share it with us - and if anyone in this band cannot feel this way - they are out. And if anyone cannot give the crowd or the fans everything in them at all times - forget it! We refuse to do a half-ass job - We refuse to damage and soil the good Descension name that we have fought for 8 years to keep pure and true - We would rather take the time to fix the problems, create a bigger stage show than anyone has ever tried in this town - and come back 100% ready to blow people away. I can guarantee that NOBODY in this area will have ever attempted what we are going to try and do - we are going to take the time to collect professional supplies, lighting, effects, props and staging - and we are going to come back with the biggest and most insane show ever - and let these copycats try and steal THIS show - no way, baby! This one is gonna be HUGE!
In closing we just wanted to say THANKS to everyone - you know who you are - that we call friends - we'll be back - and we'll make you proud - People like Jimmy and Tanka, Sister Mary Rotten Crotch, The Blackouts, Brian Bomb, The Uprights, The Brick, Slimm, Mark, EL Torreon, Spitfire, Alert! Alert!, Evermourne, Steve And the old Darkside boys, Swill - you crazy bastards, When Good Robots Go Bad, Woodsy, Vibralux, Corpses (You GO guys!!!), Hurricane, Andrew Miller, Nathan DInsdale, Dandercroft, Season To Risk, Origin, Esoteric, Mean Dean, Pornhuskers, Shotgun Idols, Steve Tulipana, Galactic Celt, Jim Kilroy, Last Of The V8s, All the PAST MEMBERS that gave us their time and talent - if only for a little while, Those crazy ass Pandas and so many more we cannot even hope to name you all - Thanks again for the great times - and again - we hope to see you soon - and we hope to still have your support - you will always have ours."
Keep checking the website for updates on this situation - hopefully the band will resolve theissues in Hell and be able to get back to work on the new music and stage show sooner than later - Until then - Hang in there TRUE BELIEVERS. DESCENSION will be back!
NOVEMBER 2004 NEWS:
In a very shocking development, Father Arrestaad has been summoned away from this Earth to return to the Pits of Infernal Damnation so he can lead the congregation of the Dark Church as "They" prepare to return and bring Hell on Earth. Much like foretold in The Necronomicon, the hordes of Cthulhu have been preparing for this return for ages, and now in the final decades, as madness envelops humanity, the good Father must go back to his Dark Church and make sure all is ready for the coming of darkness. On a deeper personal note, Astoroth Occultus has given us these few words about the demented Father:
"Father Arrestaad is my brother. He is a brother in Darkness, but it is more than that. He is also a person that I am very close to... closer than any other demon I have met really. He and I have shared so many trials and tribulations - so many stages we have destroyed, so many stories we have written... we have lived our dreams... we have met our goals and we have kept one another strong in the hardest of times... when all seemed lost, he was there for me - and I hoped I could do the same. He is in so many ways one of the most important people I will ever have met and ever have shared my life with. When all seemed lost and we were left here on Earth stranded and alone, he stood by my side and fought to keep the vision alive - I could never have done any of this without him. He is my best friend and my brother and I cannot stress how very much I will miss him. Times change, and he was needed elsewhere - but he will ALWAYS be here in my heart - and in all our hearts - there would be no Descension today without him. Things will be very different without him here - and although a new chapter of Descension is beginning - I feel deep sadness for the loss of the Father - things will not be the same without him - yet Descension has not yet finished with the mission so we must purge onward... deep into the night - to fight the fight... and bring nightmares to all."

recorded in Kansas City's own Studio City facility with an amazing engineer
named Brad Moon. The music on the new CD will shock some people. It
is being described as Heavier and more Aggressive, yet still Melodic. More
technical in some ways, many of the songs go into musical areas the band has
never been before. With the inclusion of Celtic Flutes, Strings and Choirs
and the new direction in some of the music, Descension is breaking some new
ground in their career thus far. There are still the epics, like "Dark
Water" clocking in at over 9 minutes, but there are also more short songs - fast
and to the point. "Manchester Morgue" is only 2:46 long, a shock to the
band as well as the producers. The song listing is: 1. Antidote, 2.

(A crowd favorite, now done the way it should be - Fast, brutal and

version of this classic song included by request - totally overhauled), 8.
